I have discovered through my rink time and travels that the love of hockey does not end in a rink… There is a ton of “stuff” that hockey kids and parents alike can embrace during their off ice time. Here are a few that I have found and thought you all might enjoy… Some I have tried, some I have not. All interest me on some level.
Hockey jersey cakes… I have ordered these cakes several years running from my friend and fellow Haligonian Sarah Sexton-Williams. She does an amazing job – not only does the cake look amazing, it tastes awesome! She also delivers… even cakes that are not hockey jerseys. That’s service people!
Contact Sarah at crumbs@ns.sympatico.ca. This is a picture of Noah’s Ottawa Senator’s cake when he turned 7 (normally the child’s last name is on top of the number but it has been edited out of these pictures). And a picture of his cake when he turned 8. And then one for Gabi’s 5th birthday… Told you we got them year after year!
Hockey jersey pillows… I have not ordered one of these yet, but they seem like a great way to preserve the jersey memory (provided they have been well washed first!)
Hockey rooms… These stickers are so cool! Enter “hockey” in the search box and so many neat room decorating ideas come up. I saw one room with a life-size hockey player on the wall and the quote “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”. – Wayne Gretzky.
Hockey dolls... My daughter will not play with dolls of any kind. But this doll might crack her longstanding refusal. It makes me want to play with dolls!
